Hi all, hopefully someone can help on what i imagine is a pretty basic answer!!

Having embarked on my first floor tiling exercise - for the bathroom leading onto a small lobbying housing the boiler, i have run out of floor tile adhesive to fnish the lobby area.

I still have plenty of sand and cement left over from an earlier part of this job. Could i not just mix a mortar to fix the slate rather than buying another bag of adhesive? (i'm tiling onto a concrete floor that has been levelled)

From an inexperienced point of view both appear to have the same properties, although the adhesive seems to be much quicker setting.

Many thanks, Kev

Cement based, powder adhesive is also polymer modified which greatly enhances adhesion, water resistance & adds a degree of flexibility. If it was one tile in a corner then it may be worth a gamble but for the sake of around 20 quid, I wouldn’t chance it.
