Hi,

I know this hardware section isn't really for cameras but this is such a helpful website i thought id give it a try.

im looking to buy a cheap and cheerful digital camera for below £100.I only want it to take holiday pictures and other bits nothing too fancy. I have got down to two that i like. One is £90 and the other £70. The only real major difference is that the £90 has Li - ion battery and the other takes 2 x AA batterys. Should i go for the Li - ion or get the AA one? If i get the Li - ion one and the battery runs out can you just put AA or AAA batterys in until you can charge the Li-ion one????

These are the links to the cameras.

Please please please help me make up my mind.

Cheers

Don't panic!!
Personally I would go for the one that take AA batteries. The Li-ion ones are not easily replaced. They do last longer than the AA ones, but when they run flat you will have to wait until you have finished re-charging them before you can keep snapping, as they charge in the camera. At least with AA batteries you can get replacements at a moments notice anywhere in the world. My advice would be the D757MP and also purchase some high power Ni-Mh (Nickle Metal Hydride)re-chargeable batteries. (http://www.batterylogic.co.uk/ is a good site for batteries and chargers I have used and would recommend.) With the AA you can always stick some normal Alkaline batteries in while your others are charging.

P.S. Get yourself an SD card as well, but don't, don't buy it from Argos, Dixons, Curries, Jessops etc. I recommend from personal experience http://www.picstop.co.uk E.G. Sandisk 1Gb as offered at bottom of Argos page. Argos price £22.99 (Yes I know you can save £5 if you buy it with the camera) Pic Stop £6.99 + 99p P&P
