Hope this is the right forum. Been asked to instal a digital tv aerial for a guy I,ve been doing some work for, no problem doing that as I put one in my own house.
Question is if he wants to distribute to several tellys is the signal strong enough to split through a distributor or would it have to be boosted ie one that requires a mains power source in the loft (none there at present).
My own home had 2 tvs on analogue from the aerial with no booster required and the quality was good. so if anyone has done similar im keen to hear.
Its just to distribute freeview to the kitchen and bedroom and possibly a third tv later on. his Sky will be seperate and just cover the living room tv.
Cheers

I am in that position at the moment.

Aerial was OK for analogue on two sets without boosting ( low loss splitter ) but the signal strength is marginal for digital at 50% and bit error rate of 1 t o2.

Having to relocate aerial and I will almost certainly be installing a booster.

Boosters and distribution amps are easily available that get their power on one of the coax downleads leads from a PSU mounted next to one of the TV sets - no need for power in the loft.

There's a thread about this somewhere here..

I'd install a signal dist. amp personally, afaik when you purchase a 'digital' aerial, it just means its wide band, its possible to use a non wideband aerial to receive digital signals sometimes, you just need to look up where the digital multiplexes are on your local transmitter and pick the right aerial group to use, the problem is that the aerial group you need is probably not the same for analogue signals in the same area, and quite often not the same group for all the digital multiplexes in one area, and so instead of a complicated selection of different aerials and a pocket full of splitters and combiners, a wideband aerial is the obvious choice, the problem is that I beleive generally the gain is much lower than a traditonal aerial
