Hi, we have a dining room kitchen area and have just installed 4 mains downlights in the dining room and 4 in the kitchen run by individual switches on a cheap plastic white double switch. Now we are coming to the end of the decorating, we are looking to change the spots to LEDs and obviously change the switch so it is diamble.

Has anyone got any recommendations as to good quality, reasonably priced gs10 LEDs. As I say, there will be only 4 on each switch but I will of course need to purchase a suitable double dimmer. The housings are standard Robus-Adjustable-Voltage-Downlight-Brushed.

Any recommendations would be welcome.

Seems strange that you bought lamps and fittings and now want to change them for the GS10.
There seems to be a few variations of the GS10 but I quite like this one.
Four of them for each room might be a bit of a stretch though.;)

Must be a pretty big space to need 8 ceiling lights to achieve even illumination.

Nothing obvious about that. Dimming lights in a kitchen is such a bad idea. For the dining area split the lights into separate circuits and "dim" by switching some off.

Surely you'd just turn the dimmer up when you're preparing food etc?

My recommendation is don't fit BG luveo or whatever they're called. Fitted 12 on Friday, 2 were faulty. Not a great success rate.

Megaman lamps are always good, BEL make some nice ones too

I wonder if Winston would mandate the use of photocells in kitchens, on the grounds that people may not be trusted to turn lights on when it gets a bit dim.
