Hi ya'll
Please can anyone help. Single dimmer switch to replace. Old switch has 2 black wires going to COM and 1 black wire to L1.
New switch has only 2 input points......a L and a wave with an arrow through (across). Is this new switch usable or should I source something else..?
Thanks for any response most grateful.

Electrical forum ? Though you state new has two terminals as well as old so don’t understand problem.

It's wired in the exact same way.

The two black wires together in one terminal go together into one of the terminals.
The black wire on it's own goes into the other terminal on it's own.

Do not mix up the black wires - mark the single black with a pen or tape first.

Okay thanks for the response. Could you please tell me if this is correct;
The 2 wires in COM will go to the L terminal and the single wire from L1 should go to the terminal marked with the wave with arrow across..!?
Sorry for being such an amateur.

Yes this Dimmer-termial-sign.jpg should be output, but AC stands for alternating current so unlikely to cause problems even if wrong way around.
