I have purchased a metal face varilight one way touch dimmer to replace a single switch for 6 12v 50w halogens in living room. The wiring on the existing switch is L1 (red), L2(red,red,yellow), L3 (red, blue) with 3 black commoned together. When connected in dimmer as L1 into LOAD, L2 LIVE, and L3 into SLAVE and earthed it works but when switched off after a few minutes comes back on also the fans in upstairs bathrooms constantly operate at low revs. Could it be due to the touch type used and connection of returns through fans.Any suggestions?.

Never mind the fan for now - he's got a one-way dimmer and far too many wires for a one-way switch....

6x 50W units = 300W. Are you sure you have a powerful enough dimmer to control that load? Remember that you have to devalue the dimmer's maximum power rating for GU10 mains halogens. I believe you probably need a 500W dimmer to control 300W of GU10s.
