I have a dimmer switch in dining room it lights 4 double bulbed wall lights. When i touch around the switch on the square flat plastic surround piece it feels very warm to hot - is this normal ? Thanks

some dimmers do get warm, but not hot.
solutions:
check wattage of all lamps
see wattage of dimmer
you may need a "bigger" dimmer
this also assumes the wall lights are "ordainairy" (ok funny shapes also included) but not 12v halogens
