Just had new double glazed windows fitted. We live on a main road with heavy traffic, when the cars go past you get a windy/din noise in the room.

We have checked seals etc. The windows are 1400mm x 2000mm , glass is 4mm argon filled A rated unit.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

Cheers

Yes ... complain to the company that fitted if you believe that the noise is worse now than before.

I would suggest getting the company back out and make them to check what the fitters did between the frames and the walls. If you have plastic "cloaks" or flashing strips covering the gap between the frames and the walls get them to lift one where the drafts/noise is bad.

If they've cut corners e.g. by not filling the gaps between the frames and your walls with foam filler, not only will the noise be bad, but the thermal properties of the window will be compromised.

I've just had this corrected after living with it on six windows and a patio door for three years after an installation. I wish I had done it sooner.
