We have just purchased some tile effect laminate wood flooring which is to be laid in the kitchen and utility room. The kitchen is 'L' shaped and the utility room is more or less a square. The flooring is of the glue less variety.
My question is, does it matter which direction the boards are laid? i.e. flooring laid across the shortest distance or at 90 degrees to the general direction of people walking on it, does this have any bearing on the strength of the joints of the boards. If so what is the best solution to 'L' shaped rooms? I hope you understand what I mean, as you are inevitably going to end up laying the boards along one of the long sides and not across the room.
