Dishwasher does its cycle but then just won't stop and will keep grinding away forever until you unplug at the wall. the tablet dissolves, it does wash but there is still a lot of residue water on items but no pool of water at bottom. Sometimes it even starts up again exactly the same after it has been unplugged. It's a dishwasher with a very long memory. I cannot find the instruction manual online either except in Portuguese.

INfo on door lip in addition to the DWF is Type 10150 then a long series of numbers about 25 I think except its worn away. oh well.

However, there are numbers on the back at the bottom so I will put it on for this evening and look again later after I have pulled it out to stop it.

Thank you for your continuing help. I tried to translate bits in sections but some it does and some it doesn't. Is there another way please !

There should be a 12 digit number beginning with 85 if it is produced by Whirlpool.

Ok. If the machine washes into infinity then you almost certainly have a heating problem. Do you have any flashing lights on the program LED's?

Do you have 4 or 5 program LED's?
Counting left to right 1,2,3,4, (5 if there is a 5th LED)....which lights are permanently lit & which ones flash.

Hi, I have found a manual (how can there be so many different sites just because I put a space inbetween the 409 and the SS??) anyway there are other problems, as in its leaking at the bottom which is only apparent when pulling it out.

We are going to undo the control panel bit and see if one of the buttons is pressed in too much. We will then put it on again and if that doesnt work I can note down exactly which buttons are flashing like you say and get back to you and/or manual.

Now that explains a lot...I don't think you have any problems with the control panel. But you may be mistaken in thinking the machine was washing non-stop (which is usually caused by a heating fault). If you have water on the base-plate then it was the pump you heard running not the wash motor. It is supposed to do that when water leaks onto the base. If you lean the machine over & let the water run off the base-plate you should be able to start a wash program ok. However that still leaves you with a leak to rectify. Popular place for leaks are the wash motor seals.

It was the pump, we tipped it now and again and it leaked sporadically during a wash, then a couple of weeks ago there was a loud bang and some smoke and we decided it was the end of the dishwasher. thanks for your advice, we eeked it out for a further few months. was at least 7 years old i would think. I miss it though oh how i miss it although i don't miss mopping up and wringing out teatowels or forgetting and stepping in pool of water in the mornings.
