diy aircon kits

please advise on the use of diy aircon recharge kits and does any one know where the valve for recharging is on a 2006 focus 1.6 ztec? :idea:

on the ford galaxy forum im on the general thinking of these things is'THERE CRAP'
kwik fit should be doing there deal again if they cant make your aircon cooler by whatever temp you dont pay.
might be worth saving your dosh on the diy route and get them to do it,
or better still a dedicated aircon specilist.
 
I got one on E-Bay and used it to top up the system on an S type Jaguar. It did the job and was only £20.
 
They are not worth it in my opinion. A full drain and recharge is much better as the new gas includes lubricant for the compressor. If the compressor fails it costs a lot of money to replace.

I've use one a couple of times although I couldn't find any cheap ones on Ebay last time I looked. The one's that Halfords sell are about £40 and ATS do a drain and refill for £35. Mind you they never spotted the leak on my system either.

The cans of refill usually do include a lubricant for the compressor.
