Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.
Mine was connected front to rear on each rafter as it hung out the rear formed the flat roof joists, BR spec'd Dia 75mm timber connectors that are a bugger to get but have a load left now.
Apparently the loads all work out
I merged 2 ways.
SE had the 50x50mm and 15mm ply and a few other things no corner post, BUT BR changed it to 100x50mm and 9.5mm ply with a 100x100 corner post for insulation purposes
SE said not strong enough, so I now have 50x50 doubled up on 2 sheets of 9.5mm ply, with the corner post every one happy.
What do you mean when you say the ridge beam was interlinked. Did they make it a Fitch Beam.
When you said you ran the dormer roof joist through. Do mean you ran it horizontally through from the dormer connecting the front rafter and the back rafter( Stub after cutting) under the ridge board. Then bolting it on using the 75mm timber connectors.
Did you beef up the front rafters.
Did you brace the front rafters back down to the binder beam or did you introduce another purlin.
The structural engineer has quoted me 480 + VAT. to strengthen the roof and design the dormer. Was this close to you.[/img]
Does that help nothing was done to the ridge
The dormer joist you have read a right
The front where made up to 100x50mm ish screwed and glued 50x50
Seem to recall paying a bit more but would need to look back at recept or blog I doing for family etc
