DIY shelf brackets

I am looking at making some shelf brackets, something similar to this:

But as I need about 20 I am looking to save money and make some. Would something like this be strong enough to be weight bearing?

Shelves will be made from scaffold board, no more than 1000mm long, and have kids books/toys on. My plan was to cut to length and then drill holes and spray black. If not can anyone recommend another product which may suit?

Just buy the angle iron(£15 for 3m length) and cut to size .Ali will not give the same appearance .

I would also put one in the middle of the alcove to stop shelves flexing

If the brackets are semi concealed then the material used need not have perfect appearance

What's wrong with running a strap of wood along the wall and resting the shelf on that?

If you can be accurate enough you can do it with screws alone. Drill and plug 2 screws at the ends and maybe 3/4 along the back, gently tap down the shelf, mark screws and cut small 'notches' at each screw head and replace the shelf. Fixings will be invisible.

I think OP is looking for industrial look, visible brackets .?
