What good reasons are there for not fabricating your own (open) panels over time from monthly disposable income; then erecting the kit when it's all made up? Accuracy, cost, storage, more skill needed than seems obvious?

A timber framed house. I have a 20 year old one, and it doesn't appear rocket science. I wondered if I was missing something.

A timber framed house.
Timber framed or timber slabs ?

Framed is load bearing posts and beams with non load bearing in fill panels

Slab is load bearing panels and beams.

Infill panels are simple to make.

Load beaing panels require calculations for size and spacing of the vertical and horizontal timbers to ensure they can carry the load without deforming.

Sounds interesting.

A fair bit of storage would be needed I guess.

Also you would expect to get a keener price on a bulk order of wood wouldn't you?

The wood is bulky to work with and transport.

Just thinking there might be a negative cost saving compared to building direct on site all at once.

Usually cheaper to have all panels supplied ready made to architects design for self build.
