Anyone had a dog with sudden onset dizziness?

Anyone had a dog with sudden onset dizziness?

I hope she gets better soon.Vet has ruled this out, also toxin or poisoning. We are guessing it maybe caused by an unwitnessed head trauma, but we just don't know. She's been dizzy for about 4 days and is now on anti epilepsy drugs. She has seizures when sleeping. She's just under a year and a half and this has come on very quick.

No.
So far the vet has her on anti epilepsy drugs and is referring her for an MRI. The problem is even when she is unconscious she has small involuntary spasms every few seconds. So I am not sure how good a result we will get.
The closest thing I can see is vestibular syndrome. But that is a description of the symptoms rather than the illness.
Having read up on the side effects of the drugs, they can make them more wobbly and don't seem to be stopping the spasms. They are much worse at night, when she is trying to sleep.
We are having to help her feed and so far we both have fingers in plasters, as she just can't control her mount and randomly snaps. totally out of character, she's never snapped at us before and looks at you all apologetic afterwards.

she is up to dateHave you given her any flea meds recently?
noDo you clean your floors with zoflora.
Cyst or tumour, but it's been so quick. I was also thinking vestibular syndrome, but she should be improving by now. Deep Ear infection (MRI would show that).
Very sad lossI was hoping not, but one of our dogs, suffered a brain tumour. It happened very quick, a matter of two or three weeks, and at just three years old. She went from normal, to unable to walk because her back legs would not cooperate. Thinking it was physical, I began making her a trolley, so she could get about, but in the day or two it took me to get the bits together and start making it, she completely lost control. Took her to the vets again, and they diagnosed a tumour, nothing to be done, so had her put down. Lexie, the nicest, cleverest, border collie we've ever had. She was the one who absolutely loved to have a bath. She would sit at the side whilst I had a bath, keeping an eye on me. If my head went under, she would try to fish me back up. When I got out, she would insist on jumping in, to play in the water. At the end, she would duck her face under to pull the plug out.
Are her kidneys and liver ok? We had an older border collie that was having fits, and that was the issue with her.she is up to date
no
but thanks for the contributions.
She's been on Phenobarbital and Levetiracetam, to try to slow down the spasms for a week. Both have side affects and treat symptoms only. We were supposed to end that on Monday. Last night we decided to stop early, because she can't even stand up and move about anymore and they don't seem to stop the fits and ticks. She seems to peak about mid-day and wants to go for a walk, which we are limiting to about 100-200m. Once she gets going she seems to be able to coordinate better. There is no loss of strength, no nausea, she maintains eye contact, tries to obey her calls. She is definitely still in there.
She has lost coordination so we are now mushing her food up in to hand size burgers so that she can eat and we have to hold the bowl to let her drink and more recently hold her body, which she doesn't like.
We really need to know if she is getting worse or if these are the side effects of the meds. Hence the stopping early
Unfortunately a lot of the independent vets around our way have been bought up by medivet and while the vet is doing his best and I am sure he cares, the turn over of staff seems to be every few months.
We are hoping to get an MRI on Tuesday, but then what? We have almost used up the insurance. Its not about the money, but you do have to be objective.
I am left thinking this is brain damage/swelling from an unknown impact, but there was no bleeding from ears, nose, eyes. Cyst or tumour, but it's been so quick. I was also thinking vestibular syndrome, but she should be improving by now. Deep Ear infection (MRI would show that).
so hard with animals.

sh*t that does sound similar. sorry for your loss. its very hard when they are so young.I was hoping not, but one of our dogs, suffered a brain tumour.
