dno live working

i've watched a guy change a 11kv-415v tx live it was interesting! im not sure if any dno is working live on HV cables yet but with the wrapped singles stuff they have started using (name of which escapes me) it is only a matter of time i expect

IIRC it's called ABC, stands for Aerial Bunched Cable. Three insulated singles twisted together if that's the stuff you are on about.
They also have some red underground stuff that is a bunch of three cables. Being red it's presumablly HV, not sure what the techincal term for it is though.

The U/G cable that is three bunched togther is Polymeric single core cable bunched as three in one cable, and to connect it to s/gear DNO's do a joint to separate it into 3 singles run separately. ABC is usually LV but there are small trial runs of HV ABC O/H cable in some areas.

I once came across a group of travellers that had invaded my company's land and connected to a 11kV o/head line to power up their caravans!Crocodile clips and a cheap transformer IIRC.

I would have paid money to watch them connect that up!!! :o
