hello,

please could you help i am laying a real oak floor in a room around 10m2. the flooring is going on concrete which is around 11 years old but is flat and seems level,it has carpet tiles on it at present (which will be removed).

the question is do i need to lay underlay onto the concrete floor before laying the floor?

i have always thought you would put down underlay on concrete to stop damp from spoling the wood.

the floor retailer says there is no need for underlay just glue the wood floor to the concrete.

can you help?

thank you

If you glue the wood down there is no need for underlayment.

If you install the wood floating you'll have to use a combi-underlayment.
