Hi

I'm planning to lay a solid wood (oak) floor on top of existing (but very old) parquet flooring which sits on top of concrete. I'd like to use self-adhesive underlay and I want to check that this is all that I will need to lay on top of the parquet? Also, can anyone recommend the best place to buy this underlay - B&Q are selling it for just under £45/10m2.

Many thanks

Self-adhesive underlay for £4.50 a sq m? Cheap and awful, the best products go for around 7.50 - 8.00 ex VAT per sq m.

Your old parquet blocks, are they still fully bonded to the concrete or do you hear a rattling sound when you walk over them?

If the latter, you're best (and even cheaper) option would be to lay normal wood underlayment on the blocks and install the new floor floating, glueing all the T&G's
