1) The wall is being plastered on the cheap, so we are prepping and cleaning everything first. Do i remove the skirtingboards?

2) Ripping old plaster and slats down on wobbly wall and putting up plaster boards. Do I remove the skirting here, or will it be obvious that I do?

Ah i have just had a room plastered and didnt remove the skirting,

I wish i had now and will do for all the other rooms i am doing.

But i suppose it depends on if you intend removeing and replacing

Or just painting the skirting board you have now.

p.s i am a diy'er and not an expert.

I think we will stip and varnish (or paint)
The wood is old and covered in thick old paint which comes off quite easy but with a thick blue smoke.

I was just unsure as to how it wood affect the finish of the pastering if it was left on or removed.

I'm going for the best look with the least amount of effort...
