Are all splammers connected? Do they swap tricks?
I think (well I know) they do: my inbox today is starting to get filled with: Failed message; Undelivered mail; Mail delivery status.

If that happens once, yes I check the message, but not when 10 arrive at the same time.

Grow up dear Spammers (most of all: get a life!)

I've had loads of those ones recently, whats the point?? :?
I mean what are they selling?

Various things I imagine, but the real 'message' is hidden in an attachement.
Waste of time, easte of effort, waste of everything.

This is not spam, but a ricochet effect from spam.

What has happened is that your Email address is being used (spoofed) as the 'from' address in some spam being sent to non-existent addresses. The mail server for the recipient domain is rejecting the unknown address, and returning the mail to the sender as undelivered.

The generation of the original message is usually by a virus-infected PC, unbeknownst to the owner/user of that PC.

I know its difficult to combat, but governments should properly fund putting a stop to it given theres millions across the world wasting 10 minutes or more a day clearing them.

I take it they just want your credit card details they're not actually selling anything.
If you opened the attachments I suspect you'd get a nice little bit of spyware on your pc that would then send your credit card and other information to some criminals somewhere.

If only people properly protected their pcs, and small-business email servers didn't just forward this spam on then there wouldn't be these "ghost" networks sending the spam...

I think it's more the latter than the first you mention: I can't help that my email extension is being hiyacked - has nothing to do with protecting your pc.

The first part is true - it's not your PC that needs cleaning/protecting, but this type of spam is invariably sourced from an infected PC, and if it's not yours then it's someone else's.

Why is it the government's responsibility - it neither created the Internet nor makes any money out of its existence?

Why do you think that?

That's generally not what spyware does - do you have any idea what you're talking about?

No - clearly you don't.

Mr Softus,
Very patronising, and rude, but nevertheless, useless info.
Why cant you just help people, (as you are capable of doing so), do you really feel the need to be so rude and arrogant ?, I am sure that most people welcome advice on thier questions, they are not interested on your constant, nasty 'put downs'.Mostly, they are here for help, not to be ridiculed.
Either you have a complex, or you dont get out much my friend.

Try and be a nicer person in 2007?, I doubt it.

look at it this way, if spam didnt work, they wouldn't do it.

I have an auto spam filter (i'm with BT) it is set to empty the spam folder at 1 month intervals, so far it has 1321 spam posts, so you think you have a problem?

reading through the spam titles I can

"eat our father"., get some, "Luxury Pens" whilst i eat some "cashew" and while i am Waiitng for this I can go "internet gambling" at the "game tables" with "Hattie" who is my "brother-in-law" who says "Happy New Year!" but i think he is being "crass" and "DuffFarrah" and he regrettably mustn't "DO NOT ATTEMPT TODRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS" but as i work for a "successful company". I want to give a "Warm New Year Hug!" to "CHRISTINA"

rgds

"Toni Collette"

"Happy New Year!"

I've got 441 in my gmail account which is 30 days automatically deleted)and some of those are redirected from my virgin account so already spam filtered !! and the main subject at the moment is ''MAILER-DAEMON'' ''mail delivery system'' .

FYI, JamesA's post wasn't requesting or seeking help, but postulating unfounded opinion and impractical suggestions. If this web site is about giving information, then the giving of misinformation is something to be discouraged, and misinformation that is given in the guise of being informative (as opposed to just being opinionated) is to be firmly discouraged.

Just got in, having been out helping some people, so the logical conclusion is that I have a complex. BTW, I'm not your friend.

I see. Is this your example of how not to put someone down?
