Do you still notify the LABC even if your BI is private?

I'm doing a new build and my BI is a private approved inspector rather than the council. I only ever see guidance that the LABC is to be notified in advance of carrying out electrical work - but does that mean that only the LABC can be notified, or should it be the person issuing the completion cert (i.e. my private BI, who will arrange for testing at my cost in the same way the LABC would)

Thanks gys

I didn't find the answer, sorry. Can you be more specific?

I think you'll find that the private BI is effectively an alternative to a LABC and that all contact (including notification) is therefore with the BI, and you have no dealings at all with a LABC. That's my understanding, anyway - and I'm sure someone will chip in if I'm wrong!

Kind Regards, John

From the link:
"The role of checking that Building Regulations are being complied with falls to Building Control Bodies.

There are two types - a Local Authority Building Control service and a private sector Approved Inspector Building Control service."
