Does building control require water from an extension to go to a soakaway?

About to start a small extension on my parent's place. have not approached building control yet for the PD development. Is it a requirement that rainwater from the gutter needs to go to a soak away or can we still divert to the public sewer?

Generally speaking you will only be able to drain into a sewer if a soakaway is impracticable due to location (ie cannot achieve the 5m from a building) or the strata being unsuitable eg clay.

BTW PD is a planning term and nothing to do with Building Control.

Thanks, we are in a clay area and the soak away would need to be sited some 10-15m away from any house building so hopefully public sewer will be acceptable.
