System was installed about 6 years ago with no problems until this week.
We were unable to set alarm 2/3 days ago with all zones lighting up on keypad when attempting to do so. All lights were also illuminated on Nova IV remote receiver, which I thought may be because of batteries being due for replacement.
Arrived home yesterday to find no power to system and a clicking sound from external bellbox, as it it was attempting to sound but battery is flat.
Maintenance company has just been out and have advised that transformer is dead. As the panel is obsolete, they have said that a new panel and keypads are required.
They've recommended supplying and installing a Veritas R8 with two keypads at a cost of £210 + VAT.
From the information given, does this sound necessary and is cost reasonable?
