Does the odd centimetre matter? (Gas hob)

Current gas hob measures 50x58cm. Suggested replacement measures 51.5 by 59.5. How precisely should the replacement mirror the original? I would imagine that it's the space below that matters and that they're all a standard size.

It's the space of the cut out that matters, as long as the hob is supported on all 4 sides by the worktop. Most hobs have the oven below so space is usually not an issue but if not then you need to ensure there is suitable clearance if it is drawers or similar.
