Ok and if I want to do away with the single socket and just have a double socket, I can just lose the block and wire all 5 wires to the double socket?

Hi, you could put a the single socket into the box in the wall and spur the double socke from that. i.e. you would have 3 sets of wires connected to the single socket, 2 from the wall and 1 going to the double socket. This would comply with the regs and give you the same number of sockets.

@Midd_2005 To help you. The earth sleeving that is inside the single back box will have two earth conductors inside it.
So there are 6 conductors - 2 line, 2 neutral, 2 earth.

Thanks for this advise. Just to confirm I plan to run an extension lead from the single socket so I can plug Sky Box, TV, Wireless Internet Modem, DVD player etc, this wont overload the socket by doing all this? The double socket will just be used to plug in additional appliances as and when required. Just to check this is ok?
Thanks, Hayley.
