Door Knob - What is this for

Recently fitted some passage door knobs. In each pack was a small flat piece of metal with a point at each end. What is it for? There is a pinhole on the stem of the door knobs (not in the knob) and I am assuming this 'tool' is something to do with that but what and how does it work?

Cheers

One end looks like a C spanner for screwing up a ring or bezel does your door handle have one?

"Hey Joe I just found a load of Model T noggle adjusting spanners, what should I do with them?"
"Donno mate, stick one in each box of handles that'll keep someone guessing!"

You were right. I contacted the wholsaler and they said it was an installation tool needed for some types of handles but provided as standard whether it was necessary or not !
