The standard sizes are: 108 and 131. However with 12.5mm board 89 CLS will come to 114

What do you folks do?

Thanks Woody - just been to Travis Perkins. The 115 linings are 115 NOM and 108 finished. The guy suggested either:
1. Making a lining from timber
2. Getting a 131mm lining and doubling up the plasterboard one side
3. Using 9.5mm board (I don't want to go down this route for a hallway)

I don't fancy making a lining, so the doubling up of 12.5mm board on one side of the wall sounds most appealing - unless there are any other ideas?

Seeing as I'm using standard size studs (89mm) and recommended plaster board (12.5mm) it's surprising there isn't a standard lining to suit.

Travis rubbish Perkins. Bet you wish you'd used the 3x2 now

Doubling up, a great way to sell more plasterboard. Of course doubling up would improve soundproofing, but not much point between living room and hallway. You only have to double up over the studs, so could pack out over the timber using cut strips of PB. Then you'd probably only need an extra sheet. See if they've got any 'bashed corner' sheets you can have for a quid.

You'll need some slightly longer screws though.

Thanks Delux - It's only three boards so I'll probably put them doubled up.

Yep - you're dead right, wish I did use the 3 by 2. I know for next time though.

We've used 115mm linings with this CLS before and I've got one here behind me!

I wonder if it is just TP's stock which is not the full 115mm

Woody - where did you get your finished 115mm lining - was it a national firm? I phoned the local timber merchants to me today and none had it.
