Hi

The main bedroom in our house is a dormer.

This isn't a loft conversion or anything and the house was built in 1997 so relatively new.

We've been in the house for just under a year and I found over this summer it gets very warm in there and it is already quite cold now compared to the rest of the house.

Is this just the nature of dormer rooms or are there steps I can take to insulate this further?

Our loft seems to be well insulated with thick rolls of insulation, so i'm not sure if there's anything else I can do.

To do it properly you would have to fit Celotex type stuff between the timbers in the wall and roof, then again over the timbers.

Our dormer is like that and it maintains a good temperature but sounds pass through it very easily so you might want to look at that too.
