Dormer cheeks

Hiya,

Getting new dormer done, however have a problem with one of the cheeks, next door has said we cannot join cheeks, really silly as when mine goes up there will min space for maintanence, neighbour will not be able to work on their cheek tiles if they need to due to lack of space.

I can really take my dormer cheek back but will loose space so will not be doing that, what are my options on my cheek, what else can i put on it apart from tiles that will guard against rain??
