Hi.

I'm about to sort/replace old dormers (50s bungalow) in preperation for a new roof. Currenly uninsulated damp (likely rotten) horrible things.

At present it's diffiuclt to work out exactly what I'll be working with but my assumption is the following.

Walls rising from roof joist supporting the roof. Batterns inside for plaster board etc.

I've watching many "steve roofer" viddeos and messaged him and he is suggesting go for a warm roof over cold.

So, my current think is as follows.

After I strip back I'll be left with something along these lines (FYI - it's the largest of the 2 is 2.2m wide, the smalles about 1.6m).
To be fair I'm coinsidering dithing the smaller and sticking in a Velux
There will be timber inside for plast board etc but I've not shown that.

If I go warm roof I think I'll have a OSB deck, foil vapour barrier or similar, 120-150mm insulation, osb then rubber. Therefore approaching 200mm. On the roof that isn't a big deal but the cheeks will look silly. Also, what about the timber on the front forming the window frame? OSB sanwich, forming a tunnel?
Seems like I'm doing alot for a tiny wall.

At present I'm thinking strip it all back, fill the existing voids with insulation, 50mm external, maybe small air gap, osb and rubber on the roof and cladding on the sides.

To add, when I do the rooms inside next year, I'd add a vapour barrier and maybe insulated board.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
