You don't need to, but make sure wall is dust free.

Board adhesive is probably one of the best suited products in our industry and does exactly what it says on the tin.
It does not shrink, it stays workable for a long time and it grabs boards like a vice.
As said, knock the dust off with a spray of water if you like but damping it is not essential.
