Double glazing makeover

Is it possible to remove the plastic 'Georgian effect' strips from inside double glazing panels?

I have moved into a Victorian house and the monstrosity of a porch left by the old owners makes me feel ill. The neighbours hate it too. It would look so much better if it was plain glass.

I know you can get units out by working at the beading but can you get inside the glazing unit itself?

Help appreciated.

the idea is like leaded lights its easy to clean as a flat surface

That may be so, but it looks sh**e when it's faked, and even worse when it's slapped onto the front of a Victorian house. Grrr
