Double insulated lights

I want to replace a central kitchen light fitting with a arm of spotlights - but there is no earth wire in the ceiling wiring (old house)and my electrician said I must have douple insulated light fitting to be safe, but I cannot find anything suitable - can you help?

ull have to find one thats double insulated or get an earth to it
 
if it has no earth it sounds like it is very old, about time for a re wire
 
i agree with breezer... time for a replacement of wires technical term for (Rewire) :LOL:

however there are light fittings that are doubly insulated out there.

If it was me though i would prefer to have the option of having earth wire and then trim back if the fittings were double insulated oppossed to having to get double insultaed light fittings.

If your light fittings have no earth i would presume that the socket circuits also have no earth...

socket cuircuits had earths lon before lighting cuircuits did

Don't cut the cpc back in circumstances like that - you never know when you might need it in the future....
