Hi

I've already done the plug sockets.

I am trying to change over old and well worn light switches to new ones.

I do not know how to wire the new switch based on the old switch as the old switch does not seem to have anything labeled on the inside.

On the existing one it is a double switch which I've taken some photos the wiring...

TOP OF OLD SOCKET

LEFT SIDE OF OLD SOCKET

RIGHT SIDE OF OLD SOCKET

This is a single socket. I have a double one which uses the same L1 L2 & COM.

What I need to know is. The red wires goes to two ports and a jumper wire goes from the middle port across switch 1 & switch 2. There is also a black wire.

How do I copy this configuration across to the new socket?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I think it is safe to say that the middle terminal is COM, and

the others are L1 & L2. It does not really matter which is which.

So, just transfer them exactly to the new switches. Mark the wires first so they don't get mixed up.

As you correctly mentioned at the beginning this is a switch not socket.

It looks like you currently have this:

The 2 terminals linked with a red jumper are the 'COM', the top and bottom terminals are 'L1' & 'L2' it doesn't matter which way round.

EDIT: Started writing reply well before EFL's posts, glad to see the similarity(y)

If you want to be pedantic the top contact of the old switch [may be marked 1 way] is L1 of the new
