just got new patio doors fitted, just wondering if there's any security bars available that you can lock onto the handles that you can leave your door open say 4"

The handles are like these

What about a U shape cycle lock?
You'd need to check that the size available doesn't enable the doors to be part shut to bypass the lock?
I'd at least include something that fills the gap with mesh to stop cats coming in.
There are bolt style locks that push a pin into the top/bottom frames to lock patio doors open or closed.

yeah, something like that would do i suppose

we have a cat, so it was to let him in & out while still being kinda secure, obviously not left that that when we're away

You could make something out of wood /UPVC that filled a gap between the doors and prevented them being closed to defeat a U lock. Then add a cat flap that's activated by your cat's collar.
Insurance might be an issue
