Double Pole vs. Single Pole

For a double plug socket what is the difference between double pole and single pole?

What is best to use in a standard household installation?

double pole is best but more expensive.

single pole only switches the live, double pole switches both the live and neutral.

If you can run to it, get MK sockets, they are double pole and the best looking and best quality available (in my opinion)

You could also unplug the appliance. this provides pretty positive double pole isolation.
