Downlighters in Soffit board -Special Requirements?

I want to put 4 downlighters in the wooden soffit board under the eaves of my house to illuminate a balcony.

Can anyone advise if there are any special regulations i.e. are the lights classed as being outdoors and what about being mounted in a flammable material (wood)?

Can someone suggest the type of downlighter which would be suitable please?

Are you absolutely sure that the soffit is wood and not Asbestos?

You need to make sure the fitting carries this symbol

An IP65 shower downlighter

With either an LED or compact flourescent lamp. You must not use a standard lamp, as it will run far too hot to be mounted in flammable material.
