Hi all,

I'm building a garden room with a 60cm or so overhang at the front which I want to have a few downlights set in the soffit. Please could someone tell me what materials would suit having holes cut in and be strong enough to have downlights installed. Is 10mm hollow uvpc soffit okay for this or do I need to use wood or something else? Joists are 16 inch on centre to which the soffit will attach. Here's a pic for clarity.

The walls will probably be Marley eternit cladding over batten so I could extend this to the soffit if suitable. Though I was thinking of anthracite grey uvpc to match the facia, EPDM roof and uvpc windows.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Plastic will support a downlight, but it's the heat from the bulb that you will need to be careful of. Follow the manufacturer's guide.

Ah, I'd not though of the heat aspect with uvpc. Thanks.
