Hi can anyone help ?

I am getting a builder i know to remove my chimney breasts downstairs to give a bit more space.

It's a 1920's semi with 2 fireplaces downstairs which join in the middle of the house and only have a small visible flue running up the front bedroom wall (size about 1 brick square)

Would I need this removed too ? i'm not sure but the wall downstairs dividing the 2 rooms will be holding the weight of the upstairs breast ??

please help as he's coming to start the work next week .

I have applied for building regs and have notified my neighbour about party wall etc..

A bloke over the road did his himself and said you dont need to remove the upstairs ??

look forward to you replies.

I have attached a couple of pictures to help

pupster,

Have you got some photos of the upstairs chimney breasts and also in the roof space and chimney stack above roof level?
