The manhole nearest the sewer is situated in part of my front garden under some trees.The frame and cover has come away from the top pf the brick chamber and needs re-setting.Can anyone confirm what mortar mix will be best to set the frame securly for years to come. I have bought some bricklayers mortar but it has occurred to me that something a little harder may be best. Any suggestions please.

yes, use screed sand or sharp sand. don't mix it too wet or be shy with the cement. 3:1 is about right.
