Hi all,
What are the regs to running pipes, soil and plastic in /through areas dug out to be used for foundation pours? Is this okay to run a pipe in such a trench along its length.
Thanks

Thank you (obvious answer, to an obvious (non trick) question).

Adjacent to foundations - is this okay to run pipework, post setting of the concrete in the foundations?

As long as the pipework is above the base of the foundations (so none of the building load is bearing on pipes) then yes. You need a gap between concrete and pipework (which you'll normally backfill with pea shingle). If you're going to do this then consider digging the trench wide enough for founds and pipe then shuttering before pouring the founds- wait a week for the concrete to cure, knock the boards off, chuck your pipes in, pea shingle, done

TBH, the quesation is a bit vague.

You can't have pipes in the foundation, and they may need protection when adjacent to a foundation. And placing pipes in the same trench implies digging a wider trench than is otherwise necessary or adapting the foundation somehow, which raises other questions.

Even so, pipes should ideally be placed in their own purpose dug trench excavated to the correct level in solid ground and away from the building. And not in made up or backfilled ground and this will itself then to settle - requiring the pipe run to have precautions against that. Drain runs close to buildings incur greater risk of causing probelms if they leak.

But in general terms, its more a case of managing the risk of damage to the pipes rather than hard and fast rules.
