Drayton MA1-Losing the will to live

the boiler has fired up and it was running for about half an hour, the pump has started to get a lttle noisy

if your talking about removing the head and turning the spindle they shouldn't be to tight.
try a pair of pliers.

strange never seen a new valve seize like that.
if you leave the head off and try hw on its own
on the side of the valve head is a little black lever which points to hw - mid - htg
this lever should point to the position that is calling for heat.

this will check the motor is still ok in head.

but you'll still need to change the valve body or try and unseize it.
 
you see if its upside down.
where is the spindle top, side or bottom.
these valves shouldn't be installed upside down.

you sure he changed the valve body ?
and why was the original one changed ?
 
The other one had been there 20 years, I think the motor had gone but we could change it by hand, he has changed the valve body twice, might be faulty batch..........
 
will it not free at all.
they do only move slightly and sounds like its jammed in the ch position as your heating was ok.
