Hi,
I have a convectional British Gas 300+ S-Plan system with two 2-port zone valves, currently controlled by a Siemens RWB9.
I plan to replace the controller with a DRAYTON WISER WIRELESS HEATING & HOT WATER 2-CHANNEL THERMOSTAT CONTROL KIT.
I have attached a pic of the old wiring backplate, and have sussed that the wiring terminals are as follows:
  • N – Neutral (blue wire present)
  • L – Permanent Live (brown wire present)
  • 1 – Hot Water OFF (not always used)
  • 2 – Hot Water ON
  • 3 – Central Heating OFF (not usually used)
  • 4 – Central Heating ON
  • Earth – Green/yellow (parked on earth terminal)
I haven't bought the new controller yet, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can reuse the existing backplate and what rewiring I will need to do?
Thanks in advance.

Is this the original 2-channel Wiser
I see that's On Sale in Scewfix.

Or the current Wiser 2nd Generation 2-channel? (Which I can't find a manual for on Drayton or Schneider's site). But Wiser were offering me a 40% discount on a new one to replace my older one.

Wiser unit will come with its own backplate and the wiring may need transferring across (with mains isolated). But the terminals should be marked the same I think.
You could be very lucky and find the Wiser can attach and have the fixing screws hold it in place on the existing backplate.

Double and triple check the manual for wiring being identical before doing so and turning the mains back on.

It seems there is a change, in the main terminals 1 and 2 are not used. This

however seems to show 1 and 2 is off the same as Wiser and Hive, so seems you have read the diagram wrong? And they are the same, it is the earth wire which seems wrong, can't work out why ever put there?

According to the installation instructions it should fit onto an industry standard wallplate, so should clip on. No wiring alterations necessary

Earth wire is correct in the earth parking terminal.

Earth wire is clearly terminated on the earth terminal screw.

Two channel wiser is HW ON = T3 as is the Siemens... and CH ON = T4 as the Siemens is.

According to the installation instructions it should fit onto an industry standard wallplate, so should clip on.
What Industry standard?
Far too many variants 'in the wild' imho.
Then look at the 3 Wiser wiring variations within the same backplate!!!

OP must check; then check again in order to satisfy themselves that it is a simple swap (which I think it could / should be). Or if the Wiser backplate needs to be used for clearances/fixings reasons.
