Seeing as there is such a price premium for the real brand, I'm asking what are your experiences of either.

Buying new. All looked at so far are 1/8" - I'm assuming all are in this category. Most likely mains cord as usual batteries like to fail whether used or, especially, unused for months at a time beyond a year or two.

Are the bit/tools/gadgets fully interchangable?

There is a small range of collet sizes to accommodate different sized shanks. You can also purchase a chuck which is adjustable.

I find it useful to have a corded Dremel original and a battery powered cheap alternative for jobs that are not convenient for corded tools. The accessories and fittings are mostly interchangeable.
