Drilling into bare, uneven 140-year-old red bricks.

Second one (on right) was MUCH easier. "Practice makes perfect."

Used three drill bits, each bigger than the last, on each hole; brown rawlplugs, and the biggest screws that would fit through the holes in the brackets.

It's been 2 whole minutes now and they have not yet fallen down!

New rawlplug collection sits proudly on shelf 2.

These Fischer plugs you know......the flange on the end means they can't be pushed in too deep and are more resistant to a hammer blow
They are splined to stop them turning
Try them and you won't use anything else.

Had a look at the Fischers on Amazon and wow they are horrendously expensive.
