Dripping Bath Tap Cured with Baco-Foil??

Could not find the answer to this anywhere on the site so!!

My pensioner mother told me that her plumber cured a badly leaking bath tap in a few minutes with aluminium foil.
(He was there to do a routine boiler service.)

Apart from praising his good samaritan act.
Does anyone know what he did with the foil and how it stopped the drip?

Yes, the plumber knows. Why don't you ask him?

My guess is that the leak was from the spindle gland and he packed it with foil as an alternative to PTFE tape or whatever (you'd think any plumber would have PTFE tape with them).
