All,

I have been quoted to rip up my lawn and slabs which is 8m x 6m - 2800. Is this reasonable for block paving? (based in Lancashire)

Tarmac for the same he said £1600

And to rip it all up and lay down level soil and turf - £800

How do DIY'ers dig up a lawn/garden to level it or remove it altogether?

Spades and lots of labour or is there a more sophisticated way?

As for prices - what is reasonable is what is reasonable. Get a few more quotes, and see what they come in at. If they're all around that mark, then clearly it is reasonable. If that quote is a lot cheaper than the others, think hard about why there might be a good reason for that.

And ask for references - tell them you want to go and see work that they did locally a few years ago.

The block paving quote sounds competitive but the other quotes sound suspiciously lean especially the 'mac quote.
