Hi all

I bought a 1960s property and in the process of a bit of rennovation.

Lifted the floor boards in our living room and saw a bit of growth on the party wall.

I think it may be efflorescence as it's whispy and has a soft shine but I want to make sure it's not dry rot.

See picture (sorry about the quality).

It certainly doesn't look like dry rot or any other kind of rot.
I think that you are right in saying its its salts or efflorescence.
Do any joists tails rest in the party wall?
Do you have good through ventilation under the floor?
Any scraps of wood should be removed from the oversite.

As last post by vinn, Efflorescence occurring below the DPC.

The white stuff is on the blocks, not on the wood!

Ken.
