Drylining direct to plaster wall

HI

I have a old plaster wall that is dry and pretty even but a bit crumbly and would like to dryline with plasterboard without using timber supports. Would this work OK and does anyone know of any fixings for such an idea?

Yep,couldn't agree more,use thistle bond-it,it brushes straight on,superb stuff,just done my wall with it recently. :D
