Hi, my wife suffers from the above issue. Is there a type of mask/respirator we could buy when we decorate parts of the house especially when sanding walls etc. many thanks

Powered air-purifying respirators but not cheap. No restriction with air.

You also need to dustless sand to keep the air clean. Bodge a cheap DIY orbital sander on a cheap hepa vacuum will keep dust low to nothing

An FP3 mask works fine for most asthma sufferers. I found this one to fit well and be effective, if it’s still available:3M 8835+. It has thick elasticated adjustable straps that don’t snap like the cheap rubbish. The best advice is for asthma sufferers to stay away until the dust has settled and been vacuumed up.
When I was using a lot of yacht varnish I found that virtually no fumes got through this half face mask:3M 4255+
